Meet the Doctors
Dr. Stas Pavlenko
Dr. Stas Pavlenko wanted to be a dentist from a young age, as he was inspired by watching his father using dentistry to help many people with various problems. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. Stas is driven to provide comprehensive care to his patients, focusing on interceptive and preventive dentistry. His passion for dentistry started to grow as he realized the unique opportunity he would have in getting to know a diverse number of people and having the privilege to be part of their and their family’s overall health.
He believes in educating patients about their oral health, such that they are empowered and informed to be in control of their treatment. He strives to bring excellence to his work, through his careful attention to detail and his dedication to life-long learning.
Dr. Stas loves the outdoors, going camping, mountain biking, snowboarding and anything that will put him closer to nature. He also enjoys exploring the world through traveling. Most importantly, he likes to spend his free time with his wife Kateryna, son Vladislav and their dog Flounder.
Dr. EdDie Pavlenko
Dr. Eddie Pavlenko received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. Eddie has always been a curious person. No matter what it is, he always wants to know the “why” and the “how”. When he has a passion for something, he dedicates himself completely, to learn everything he can about that subject. One of the moments in his career that helped turn dentistry into his passion was when he went on a charity trip to a remote village in Guatemala. He provided dental services to the locals, who otherwise had very limited access to any health care. He felt the selfless reward of helping people in need, when there was nothing given in return. He hopes to do much more of this type of work in the future.
Dr. Eddie has been focused on expanding his knowledge in many areas of dentistry. Ultimately, his goal is to guide a person along the path of improving their quality of life through all that dentistry has to offer. This is achieved through a multidisciplinary approach that’s tailored for each individual’s unique needs.
Dr. Eddie loves to be active, whether it’s a run/bike ride in the river valley, snowboarding in the mountains, or sports on the water. His favourite thing to do in his downtime is play guitar. He loves travelling, especially to places off the beaten path where he can immerse himself in a different culture.
Meet the Team
I have completed BA in Psychology and Bachelor of Management specializing in Human Resources and Labour Relations. In the last 8 years I have been learning about the field of dentistry and became very interested and involved in the operations of the practice. It has been my dream to work and lead a team of talented driven professionals and help them achieve their full potential. In addition to running the day to day operations of the office, I also work on establishing office protocols, assisting Doctors in developing patient care systems, supporting our team’s professional needs and working on strategic business planning.
When I’m not buried in the world of dentistry, I am busy spending my time with my husband and our son, Vlad. We love going biking, taking walks with our rescue pup Flounder and travelling the world. When I have a little bit of time for myself, I usually spend it reading books, playing classical guitar, doing yoga and going rock climbing.
Registered Dental Hygienist
My name is Teresa and I’m an RDH from Edmonton, AB. I graduated from Toronto College of Dental Hygiene with honours in 2012. I’ve been fortunate to work in different offices and gain an outside perspective of what works well. It’s great to work in an office with like minded people open to new ideas. The people at District Dental are like family and they make me excited to come to work everyday!
I strive to learn about new products and techniques to make your hygiene appointment as comfortable and as educational as possible! I’m excited to meet you and work with you to achieve your optimal periodontal health.
My pastimes include playing softball with my husband, biking, and visiting with friends. I also love to volunteer for my church’s media team, cheering for the Blue Jays, and seeing the latest movies.
Registered Dental Assistant
I graduated from the NAIT dental assisting program in 2013. Recently returning home from 3 years of world travelling, I was lucky to find District Dental! Being a dental assistant is so much more than assisting! I love the variety of each day, patients and every case. I love being able to touch a patient’s life in a positive way. Not only giving them a reason to smile, but actually enhancing the quality of their life.
In my free time I look forward to practicing yoga, spending time in my kitchen, being in nature or relaxing with a good book. Exploring new countries as well as their cultures is also a passion of mine.
Registered Dental Assistant
I was born and raised in Edmonton with a European background. I completed an Independent Study Program for Dental Assisting at NAIT. I love building relationships with patients, ensuring that they have a fabulous experience while addressing their dental needs and improving their overall health and quality of life.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with family and friends outdoors. I really enjoy
animals, music, cooking, travelling and fitness.
Registered Dental Hygienist
My name is Caitlyn Dupilka (a.k.a. Squeaker). I was born and raised in Grande Prairie, AB and moved to Edmonton in 2009 to attend University of Alberta and in 2012 I graduated with B.Sc specializing in Dental Hygiene. After graduation, I worked part time at a few different offices, but never really felt as though I had found where I belonged. That is until I found District Dental. This is a truly unique and homey feeling office. My favourite part of coming to work is that I get to spend my day with the most wonderful people. The staff here have welcomed me warm heartedly since day one and I love getting to know our amazing patients. The best part of my job is that every day is a new
experience. I never know what the next challenge will be or what I will learn next.
When I’m not at work I spend most of my time with my husband and my two Chihuahuas. If it was solely up to me, I would like with a whole pack of Chihuahuas along with an entire petting zoo of other animals. My other hobbies include cooking for friends and family, trying new restaurants, and eating in general! I will also never say no to a good board game night.
Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
My name is Megan Schafers. I always dreamed of working with babies and their families and spent the first part of my career as an RN at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Here, I developed a passion for supporting families with lactation and breastfeeding in outpatient clinics, NICU and inpatient postpartum units.
Through my private practice at the Flow Functional Health Care clinic, I offer in-home, in-clinic or secure video prenatal and postnatal appointments. As a part of the District Dental team, I will support families who have undergone a frenectomy for tongue or lip-tie or are considering one. My approach to lactation and breastfeeding respects the abilities and wisdom of each breastfeeding parent and baby.
In my spare time, I love learning, being outdoors, cooking, drinking tea, gardening and travelling.
